Services & Scope

Clear boundaries, no surprises. We’ll tell you up front what we can do, what we can’t, and why.

The quick rule of thumb

If it’s a major household appliance and the job does not require:

  • modifying your home’s plumbing or gas piping,
  • altering building electrical wiring/circuits, or
  • opening a sealed refrigerant circuit (HVACR territory),

then we can usually help. If your job crosses those boundaries, we’ll refer you to the right licensed trade.

What We Do

🫧

Washer Repair

Diagnostics and repair on residential washers: won’t drain/spin, leaks, strange noises, error codes, and control issues.

🌀

Dryer Repair

No heat, long dry times, belt/roller issues, airflow problems, and electrical diagnostics.

🍽️

Dishwasher Repair

Not draining/cleaning, leaks, pump/motor issues, and control problems — with a written estimate before we proceed.

🔥

Cooking Appliances

Electric ranges/ovens and appliance-level diagnostics on stoves and ovens. We do not modify gas piping or perform gas-fitting work.

🧊

Refrigerator Repair (Non-Sealed-System)

Fans, defrost components, drains, door seals, and other non-sealed-system issues. We do not open the refrigerant circuit or perform sealed-system work.

Note: We are EPA 608 certified, but sealed-system work is out of scope unless and until performed under the appropriate Maryland HVACR licensure and tooling.

🔧

Water Heater Maintenance (Electric Only)

A proactive "System Performance Check" and flush. Think of this like an oil change: we clean the system and inspect safety components. The labor to inspect your anode rod is included; if replacement is needed, we quote the labor and part on-site before proceeding.

  • System Flush: Draining tank to remove sediment/calcium
  • Anode Rod Inspection: Removing and visually checking depletion level
  • Safety Check: T&P valve visual inspection (no actuation); expansion tank pressure check
  • Element Health: Amp-draw test on heating elements

Gas water heater maintenance is out of scope. Anode inspection is subject to ceiling clearance.

🧾

Written Estimate & Approval

After diagnosis, you receive a written estimate. We only proceed once you approve it — no surprise line items.

See Pricing for the exact diagnostic fee, labor tiers, and parts policy.

Appliance Installation (Limited)

We can install (plug-and-play)

  • Like-for-like replacement where the appliance is plug-in and uses existing connections
  • Leveling, basic setup, test cycle, and haul-away coordination
  • Electric range/oven replacement (existing outlet, no wiring changes)
  • Electric dryer replacement (existing outlet & vent path, no vent modifications)

If your install requires new wiring, new plumbing, new gas connections, or permit work, we’ll refer you to the appropriate licensed trade.

We do not do (installation)

  • Water heater installation or replacement (we do offer maintenance)
  • Any gas appliance hookup, gas piping, or gas fitting work
  • New circuits, breaker work, or hardwiring appliances
  • Moving/altering plumbing lines, adding shutoffs, drain modifications
  • New venting paths or vent reroutes (dryer/range hood)

These categories frequently require permits and/or licensed trade credentials in Maryland/Baltimore City.

What We Don’t Do (and will refer out)

HVAC Systems

Furnaces, boilers, central A/C, heat pumps, mini-splits, duct installs/repairs.

Sealed-System Refrigeration

Any work that opens the refrigerant circuit: charging, recovery, leak repair, compressors, brazing, gauges/pressure testing.

We are EPA 608 certified. We still refer sealed-system work out unless it is performed under the appropriate Maryland HVACR licensure and scope.

Plumbing / Gas Services

Water heater installation/replacement, gas piping, shutoff installation, drain line modifications, and other plumbing/gas trade work.

We do offer electric water heater maintenance (flushing, inspection, tune-ups) — just not installation or gas units.

Electrical Contracting

New circuits, panel/breaker work, running new wiring, new outlets, or hardwiring appliances.

Structural / Remodeling Work

Cabinet modifications, drywall/tiling, moving walls, or projects that resemble general contracting.

Commercial Equipment

Restaurant/commercial kitchen equipment and walk-in refrigeration (unless and until properly licensed/insured for that scope).

Why These Limits Exist (with citations)

We keep our scope tight to protect customers: safety, code compliance, and clear accountability. Some work in Maryland and Baltimore City is regulated by licensing boards and permitting rules — especially HVACR/refrigeration, plumbing/gas fitting, and electrical contracting.

  • HVACR / Refrigeration: Maryland requires HVACR licensure to provide heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigeration services. MD Labor – HVAC Licensing Notice
  • Sealed refrigerant circuit work: EPA rules require Section 608 certification for activities that could violate the integrity of the refrigerant circuit (e.g., gauges, adding/removing refrigerant). We are EPA 608 certified, but we still keep sealed-system work out of scope unless it is performed under the appropriate Maryland HVACR licensure. EPA – Section 608 Requirements
  • Plumbing & Gas: Maryland requires proper licensing to provide plumbing or gas services. MD Labor – Plumbing/Gas Licensing Notice
  • Baltimore City permits & licensing (plumbing/gas): Baltimore City plumbing regulations generally require permits for plumbing work and permits must be tied to licensed master plumbers or gas fitters. Baltimore Code – Permits (Plumbing) and Baltimore Code – Licensing Requirements (Plumbing)
  • Baltimore City electrical licensing exception (appliance repairs): Baltimore’s electrician licensing requirement includes an exception for minor adjustments/repairs to electrical appliances. Baltimore Code – § 17-3

This page is for transparency and scope-setting. It is not legal advice. If a project requires permits or licensed trade work, we will disclose that and refer appropriately.
